WEB DEVELOPMENT THAT KEEPS YOUR SITE FAST, SECURE, AND ALWAYS ON

RubyWeb keeps South African websites performing after launch, fast, secure, and reliable, so your site never becomes the reason a customer leaves.
The Real Problem

Your Website Works. Until It Doesn't.

Most businesses come to us after something’s already gone wrong, a slow site, a missed update, a security scare, or downtime nobody caught until a customer complained. Performance and security problems are rarely dramatic until the day they are.

The gaps that quietly cost you leads.

Accordion component, collapsed by default, expands on click:

We diagnose and fix the specific technical causes behind slow load times.

We manage updates proactively, tested before they're applied.

We monitor uptime continuously and respond immediately if something breaks.

We run and verify backups on a defined schedule, not just take them.

We move you to infrastructure built for WordPress performance specifically.

We send a monthly report so you always know exactly where things stand.

Our Capabilities

Built Around Uptime and Speed, Not Guesswork

We organise this pillar around keeping a site fast, secure, and reliable long after launch, not just getting it live.

How We Deliver This Work

Performance and stability work runs through the same structured process as every RubyWeb engagement: a technical audit first, a prioritised action plan, then implementation benchmarked against Google Lighthouse before we call it done.
  1. UX / UI Audit

We look at what you have before we plan what to build. No assumptions, no copy-paste from the last client.

  2. Project Planning

Scope, timeline, milestones, and communication rhythm agreed upfront. You’ll know what’s happening before a single tool is opened.

  3. Wireframes

Structure before style. We map how users move through the site and agree on the architecture before design begins. This is where conversion is built in - not bolted on.

  4. Design

Brand-aligned visuals with clear feedback checkpoints. Nothing moves to development without your sign-off.

  5. Content Finalization

Every page needs final copy, images, and assets before the build starts. We manage this actively - most project delays live here, and we protect against that early.

  6. Development

Clean code, regular updates, no surprises. A 50% deposit secures your start date.

  7. Testing & UAT

We test across devices and browsers before you see it. You review and sign off before anyone talks about launch.

  8. Launch

Tuesday to Thursday only. Google Lighthouse benchmarked, fully documented, handed off with training.

Performance Optimization That Delivered Real Results

Speed and stability improvements are measurable. Here’s what the work looks like in practice.

StickyThings Technical SEO Implementation

StickyThings had the products, the catalogue, and the market position. Then a site rebuild and a Google Core Update combined to cut their organic traffic in half. We were brought in to fix what had broken - structurally, technically, and commercially - and give the business the foundation it needed to recover and grow.

Boland Rentals

Boland Rentals had grown into a single, unified business - but their digital presence still looked like three separate companies. Fragmented domains, duplicated content, inconsistent branding, and diluted SEO. We consolidated everything into one platform that actually reflected the business behind it.

Website performance optimization is the process of improving how fast and reliably your website loads, responds, and functions for users - across all devices and connection speeds. It matters for three reasons: Google uses performance signals including Core Web Vitals as ranking factors, meaning a slow site is disadvantaged in search. Users abandon slow sites at high rates, directly affecting conversion. And poorly maintained sites accumulate technical debt that eventually causes downtime, security incidents, or both.

Core Web Vitals are a set of three performance metrics Google uses to assess user experience: Largest Contentful Paint (how fast the main content loads), Interaction to Next Paint (how quickly the site responds to user input), and Cumulative Layout Shift (how stable the layout is as the page loads). Google incorporates these metrics into its ranking algorithm. Sites that fail Core Web Vitals assessments are at a structural disadvantage in organic search compared to sites that pass, all else being equal.

For most sites, a target of under two seconds for Largest Contentful Paint on mobile is the benchmark to aim for. Google’s threshold for a ‘good’ LCP score is 2.5 seconds or less. In practice, the faster the better - every second of improvement in load time correlates with measurable improvements in bounce rate and conversion rate. We test and optimize for real-world performance on both mobile and desktop, not just lab conditions.

Our monthly WordPress maintenance plans cover: plugin and theme updates with compatibility testing, WordPress core updates, security monitoring and malware scanning, database optimization, uptime monitoring with alerts, regular backups, and a monthly report. For clients on managed hosting with us, hosting management is included in a combined plan. Everything is proactive - we find and fix issues before they affect your site or your users.

Standard shared hosting is optimized for simplicity and cost - not for WordPress performance. Our managed hosting runs on infrastructure specifically configured for WordPress: server-level caching, optimized PHP configuration, automatic daily backups, SSL management, and uptime monitoring. The difference shows up in load times, reliability, and the absence of the configuration friction that comes with generic hosting environments.

Yes. We work with existing WordPress sites regularly - for performance audits, speed optimization, Core Web Vitals remediation, and ongoing maintenance. We’ll assess what you have, tell you honestly what’s fixable without a rebuild and what isn’t, and scope the work accordingly. We don’t require you to have built with us originally to benefit from our optimization or maintenance services.
